Term 3 week 2

On Monday I learnt what a noun is and the different types:
Common noun-Word used for a class of person, place or thing
Collective noun-Words to describe groups
Abstract nouns-Things you cannot see or touch
Concrete nouns-Things that you can see and touch
Countable nouns-Things that you can count
Non-countable nouns-Words that you cannot count
Verbal nouns-Nouns derived from verbs
Compound nouns-Nouns that are made up with more than one word
We got given a sheet where we had to circle every single noun. I learnt that sad and favourite weren't nouns which is sort of weird but then I understood it. I also learnt how to find the area of rectangles and triangles.
To find the area of triangles you just do b x h divide it by 2=
To find the area of rectangles you just times base by height.

When we had netball training for AIMS and I learnt this new drill where you have one extra defender on the shooters to make them more in the circle. The hardest thing had to be passing it around the circle in and out about four times and then trying to get the ball in the goal after that. I think we did that twice.
On Tuesday we learnt about African music and all the differences between their music and NZ music.

  • African
  • Quick tempo
  •  use of bongos
  • A use of welcoming people
  • Tells a story

We also learnt what pi is.
Pi is basically the diameter of circle that wraps around the perimeter three times and a little bit more. Pi is also known as 3.14.
We also learnt how to make a rap and use garage band to make some cool backings and beats.
I also handed in my speech. It was very hard because I did mine on a quote and I struggled at first to try and come up with three reasons but after a lot of thinking I finally started to understand. The thing that I learnt is that not every speech has to be about something that needs a lot of research but it just needs to be about something that is persuasive.
We have a book review due this term where we have to read a short story and watch the video clip to do a book review on it.

On Wednesday we learnt how to find the area of circles using what we know about rectangles. We learnt that the formula was this and that it can be simplified.
r x 2 x r x pi/2
r x r x pi
r sq x pi=
These can all be simplified. The first one you take off the two's because you times it by two and then divide it so their pointless. The secound one you can square so that there is only one r instead of two and so that is the formula. Honestly, today I learnt some of pi- 3.1415926. Today I finished four learning intentions and three learning reflections. I'm pretty sure the first one took me five minutes just to write down the date, learning intention, maths, my work, and a learning reflection so i don't understand why everyone is taking like a day to get that done.

On Thursday I had extension Maori where I made me some goals to achieve for the next term ahead. I think a few were to help my brother practice his mihi and pronunciation and to look at a number and translate it into Maori straight away. I think my other one was to say my Whakapapa mihi to the extension Maori class. I also learnt about Whaea Rangi childhood which was sort of sad but I'm glad she told us to make her understand. At kapahaka I learnt a lot about whaea Rangi probably most people can't do so that was very cool to. Now when school singing was happening our class didn't go because we were supposed to go to the college exhibition but since the first session took fifty minutes when it was supposed to be thirty it stuffed everything up. The college exhibition was so cool. I learnt heaps of cool things and was very interested in graphics, metal work, wood, french, and food so those are the things that I want to learn because I find them to be a very good interest.

On Friday we did a maths test where I learnt that when things are easy they will always get harder. I also learnt how to find the area of trapeziums. You just add the top and bottom two parallel lines and then to divide them by two to find the average and then times b x h= Base x Height=(:
Today I also learnt how to do dishes which was fun
1.-Eat some food
2.-Clean the table
3.-Do the dishes
At Tech arts it was sad because my partner that I was doing my rap with was away so I had to do by myself.
In the afternoon we has Inter-house Jump jam which was fun. I learnt that it is much harder than you think.
Sorry that I haven't kept you guys updated. I have just been so busy lately.BUY!!!!!!

Term 2 Week 7

On Monday I got riven back my writing and reading and I got a lot of helpful information from Mrs Crowe. WE did Volleyball which was really fun.
On Tuesday we did this task where we had to make a cardboard vehicle where were challenged to see if to much mass would go further.
On Wednesday we had French where learnt how to count to twenty and did a little bit of maths. Then we did Jump Jam, which was fun. I also learnt about argument writing and the features. I finished it on Thursday.
On Thursday I learnt a new haka in Extension Maori and in Kapahaka we learnt a new song called Te Kingitanga where it was about all the past Kings and Queens. In choir, our homework was to find out what the song piano man is.
On Friday I learnt how to find the square root of a fraction. You just find the square root of the top and bottom and then that's the new fraction.
16/49- 4x4=16
49- 7x7=49
4/7
Then we had Tech arts where I finished my vehicle but we have to measure them next time because we had to deliver the Science fair boards. Then we had Maori where everyone learnt about the Battles around our area even though I didn't even learn anything it was still cool. Them we had Friday sport where I did Belmont Netball.
Anyway that is all that happened during the week.

Term 2 Week 6

We didn't have anything happen on Monday because it was
Queen's birthday.
So on Tuesday we had Tech arts where Julia and I finished our marble run and we came first in two competitions. One we just made up which was the prettiest or should I say the tidiest and the closest to exactly 20 seconds. Since we have finished our writing and reading we are now starting two new pieces of writing and reading.
Our book review is:
To write a review of a recently read book, commenting (analysing) the setting, characters and point of view.
The setting

You have to describe the setting in anyway you can.
-Date
-Time
-What year
-Season
-Area
-Country
-City
-Town
Anyway that could describe the setting to give the reader a good picture in mind.
Characters
You describe these people like descriptively or try and focus on what they are and their character traits
-Flat
-Round
-Static
-Dynamic
These four words can help you find what a character is
Flat- A flat character is someone who doesn't change themselves at all throughout the story.
Round-A round character is someone that changes throughout the story
Static-A static character is someone who doesn't grow throughout the story
Dynamic- A dynamic character is someone who grows throughout the story
I don't know what point of view is yet but i'm pretty sure i'll learn what it is.
Writing
For writing we are doing a persuasive writing task and all we learnt today was the features, layout or how things are ordered.
Layout
Introduction- The introduction involves you talking about what side your on or your three main points of why you chose that side.
1st paragraph- This contains your most important idea
2nd paragraph-This contains your most 2nd important idea
3rd paragraph-This contains your most 3rd important idea
Conclusion-This sums up what you have talked about and one last final saying of why you think this should happen.
Features
-Real life examples
-alliteration
-Facts and opinions
-Rhetorical questions
-Emotive language
-Repetition
-Quotation
-Strong words/?
On Wednesday we did Inter house sports and I played Volleyball. Mangapiko had to be the hardest team we lost against but at least we saw how good they were and Puniu. I also learnt how to add and sub fractions with different denominators. First you just try and find the lowest common multiple. Then you try and find how many times that you can multiply by the denominator to get the new one and then just multiply that number the numerator.
On Thursday I had extension Maori where I did a end of the week term assessment where everything we learnt in the term we had to display on the sheet. I got 50/50 if it weren't for Whaea Rangi giving a couple of seconds chances. After morning tea we had Kapahaka where Whaea Rangi talked her dedication towards Kapahaka and how she see's our potential in our development. Then we did a few songs and went to school singing. I couldn't wait for singing cause I was getting bronze badge and two bands to get my complete pack and also cause I was the first year seven. From that moment forward everyone was calling me Mrs Bronze. My goal is to get my silver this year or maybe my gold if I get my silver in Term 3
First Year 7
hopefully.
At Choir I learnt a new song that was performed in the Greece show called We go together.

On Friday we had Tech arts where I learnt how to use Science vocabulary correctly. It was really fun and we also won the the pack up time for a prize. Then we did Maori where we finished our Story on the Waikato. We also learnt about point of view
That is all I learnt this week. See ya. I'll keep you guys updated each week.(:

Term 2 Week 5

On Monday we had five students that got a silver badge and they were,
ARDEN
CHENG-YU

CAITLIN
ROWAN

HADLEE.
They are the only five that have their bronze badge this year and hopefully their will be a few more.
I can't wait till the next assembly because I am getting my honesty band and now I'm only one signature away from my bronze badge.
That day I learnt how to find equivalent ratio. See what you do is you try and find the lowest common multiple and then just figure out away to change to simplest form.
Equivalent ratio is-
1:7=one seventh or 1/7
2:14=2 fourteens or 2/14,1/7
3:21=3 twentieths or 3/21,2/14,1/7
Simplest form is-
7:49=it would be changed into-1/7
4:12=it would be changed into-1/3
12:18=it would be changed into-2/3

After morning tea we were supposed to do volleyball in the ALC because it was our ALC time but Mr Mccabe started talking about this interesting news that I never knew about. He talked about how Japan have quite a big fish area in their markets and he thinks it's really appalling to see how many sea creatures die from just getting caught in these huge nets that basically just pick up anything between the area. They just every animal and if their not really needed then they just chuck them over board. He also talked about the Zika virus and how he thinks the Olympic games will not occur because of the money that they are greedy for. The Zika virus is an incurable virus that could give children bad image.Image result for zika virusImage result for olympics

After lunch we did reading and writing.
Our reading had to be about a character analysis where we had to read a short story and write about the main character or two. My story was Eleven which is about a girl named Rachel who goes through a tough time talking her confidence not striving as everyone else. She expresses her emotions as here age such as when you want to cry that's the bit that makes
her feel like she's three or the part when she wants to sit on her mothers lap makes her feel like she's five. She is a unassertive character and also a static because through out the story she doesn't grow or get more confident.
For my WRITING I am doing a Giant pandas report Image result for Giant pandas]Image result for Giant pandas habitat

where we had to chose from various topics that Mrs Crowe thought were important. I chose to write about their
Diet
Description
Habitat
Life Cycle
The reason why I chose those is because I thought that all of them were vitally important and that they had a lot of information and places that I could expand so that they were longer. The introduction and the conclusion had to be the hardest part for me because you could barely put anything in those paragraphs.
On Tuesday we had Tech Arts where we had to finish our Marble run but we didn't so Ms Tyson is going to lend us half an hour at our next lesson. After morning tea I started on Science fair because I had nothing else to do. I have already finished my research notes and I'm going to start on my hypothesis. My question is
How does water temperature affect water freezing time?Image result for science fair  Image result for ice cubes
I chose this topic because it was the first thing I saw that I knew that would stand out so that is why I chose it.
On Wednesday Mrs Crowe wasn't impressed when people hadn't finished their work on time when she gave us two extra days to finish it. First thing in the morning we had a Science where I thought that I did very well doing. I thought that it would be hard but it wasn't. After lunch we had
French where I learnt how to say how I feel in a real conversation.
Then we had Jump Jam where Mrs Bailey said that she was impressed by the fact that it is only the secound time learning our new routine and it looks like it ain't even new.
On Thursday we didn't have Extension Maori because Whaea Rangi was away. In Kapahaka we learnt the rest of the moteatea with Matua Matiu because whaea Rangi was away. Image result for kapahaka matatiniImage result for kapahaka matatini moteatea
In choir we didn't have a conductor or barely any students but we still went ahead with it.
