Term 4 Goals

My goals for this term are

Overall
To try and make the most of the time I have left at this school. This is the last time that I'm going to experience at Te Awamutu Intermediate so I want to make it a good one.
To focus more on the things I'm good at instead of doing everything.

Academically
To finish my writing on a high standard and take in all I have learnt.

Socially
To enjoy social dance.
To succeed in all that I do whether it's academic, cultural, music or sport.

I think all of these things would help become a more manageable, reliable person.

Bay Of Plenty Championships 2017 Swimming Competition

On Thursday, I went down to Tauranga to compete at a Swimming Competition. It was a very big meet with the biggest number of competitors at a swim meet in NZ history. There were around 455 competitors there. The average is around early 300's so it was very tough trying to find space and getting into finals. I did very well in the meet taking a silver in the 100m Fly and 4th in the 50m Fly. I made most of my finals but it was very hard to perform. We also had a record breaking over at the meet from one of the swimmers which was very impressive. I'm only three seconds off one of them but I sill to train a little harder. I made a lot of great friends and I got confronted by a selector for the NZ teams to go international so that was good. I nearly got Personal bests for all my races and I never went majorly over my time. Overall it was a really great weekend with amazing talent exposed.

Term 2 Week 3

I was only here for two days because I had things but I'm still going to talk about what I learnt. On Monday we did Maths and I handed in my speech. I think I will do alright in my speech but I do need to use more expression when I present it. On Tuesday, we had Tech Arts and we wrote our blues song. Ours wasn't that great but we did a very good duo. We also played a game of Kahoot. I learnt how to not rush and put an answer straight away. I also had my SLC that day. It wasn't that bad. That was my week at school.

Term 3 Week 2

On Monday we had Mrs Crowe back. At assembly we had three gold badges given out to three students. On Tuesday we had Tech Arts. We learnt about Reggae music and a lot about Bob Marley. We also learnt how to play Three little birds on the guitar.
We also learnt a keyboard and drum rhythm.

On Wednesday we did Team Cross Country. On Thursday we had the College Exhibition where they came and showed us the things they do. I want to do Music, Graphics, Outdoor Ed, Food. On Friday we had Tech Arts where we learnt about Blues Music and the history behind it. We played some chords on a guitar that were similar to Blues music and we played a game of Kahoot against the class. I got into the Top 5 but that still wasn't enough. On Saturday we played netball against a team that came down from premiere and they won. On Sunday we went to netball tournament and we had so many people against our team. We accidentally hit a lady and we said sorry but she came at us and told us to say sorry. Then this lady said woohh! to us and OMG. What is worng.

Term 3 Week 1

We came back expecting a fresh start and we found out that our teacher wasn't feeling so well and so we had our principal instead. On Tuesday we had our first lesson for Music which was really cool. Last year, I hated music but this year I like it. We also went over Latin music. We learnt a lot about Latin music and where it came from. On Wednesday we did an Australian Maths test. It wasn't that bad but some of the questions I found quite challenging. On Thursday we had band. We still have a lot of work to do. On Friday we had Tech Arts where we learnt about Irish music and what type of style they like. Then we had Maori where we learnt a lot about Kingitanga.

Term 2 Week 9

For the last week or so all that I have been doing is Robotics and finishing off reports. On Tuesday, 16 students went over to a WIMS Basketball competition. I learnt that my mum knows a lot more about basketball than I thought. On Wednesday we had Jump Jam. Since Ms bailey wasn't there we had to do it all by ourselves which was quite hard. I learnt that Capital E down in Wellington actually comes in handy in life. The system that I used their was the exact same thing that was at Jump Jam. I just moved a control and it started working. I was sort of surprised but not.

Term 2 Week 8

This week I actually learnt quite a lot. I learnt that you can read a book in one day and get the book review finished and a new algorithm for robotics.
Since the end of the term was get closer and closer, I decided to do my book review at home because I didn't want to do at school and I hadn't actually read the book. Anyway, I finished it and it's nearly done. I just need to edit it before I hand it in to the teacher.
I also learnt a new algorithm for robotics from a boy in my class named Orion.

So say - Two meter's is one wheel rotation. If you have to go twenty-eight meters, obviously it is going to be fourteen because twenty-eight divided by two is fourteen; however, you can do one divided by two multiplied by twenty-eight and you will get the same result. In a case where say you move seven meters in 1.5 wheel rotations, that is when you can use the algorithm but I try to use my brain instead of cheating. Also in robotics I came around a 90 degree challenge where you have turn 90 degrees. I know it sounds really easy but it isn't. This is the scale

0.65-0.7 rotations
240- degrees

I got it on my third go but it was quite easy.
There is also this Orchard challenge and I found it really hard to do but really easy. The worst thing is that I always forget to save my program so I have to start again. Lucky I have got a good memory.
We also had cafe in Food Technology on Friday. I made a lemon with blueberries on top. I was so scared that it was going to fail but it didn't so I was really happy. I learnt that if you let it cool for 10-20 minutes it will be alright.

Term 2 Week 6

On Monday, we had nothing because it was Queen's birthday. On Tuesday we had Tech Arts in the morning and it was really cool but it was really hard to come up with something to cook that is healthy. We made invitations for the two adults that we could invite. I'm only going to invite my mum. I also up there that kiwifruit has vitamin C then oranges. We also learnt how to multiply and divide fractions.

With multiplication it's quite easy because all you need to do is multiply both denominators together and the same with the numerators. Then if it needs to be simplified you simplify it.
2/3 x 6/8 =

2 x 6 = 12
3 x 8 = 24      Then you would simplify it so that it equals something more understanding. 1/2

Division is quite straight forward but their is one thing you need to remember. It's something called reciprocal. Reciprocal is when you turn the second fraction upside down so that the numerator is the denominator and the denominator is the numerator. Then you multiply the numerators and the denominators and you get your answer. They both are quite straight forward.
On Wednesday I learnt that I need to remember my instrument for band practice. Luckily I could borrow my tutors one.
On Thursday, we learnt whole lot about this new coding system in Robotics called Jarvis Script it was really cool. It's sort of like coding but a little easier because when you do something correct it makes it a certain colour. I learnt that you need to end every line in a semi-colon and that instead of writing stop you have to write await delay. There is all this other stuff that I forgot as well.
On Friday I went to my little brother's assembly and I learnt that his school is quite loud that you could possibly go deaf so it was very loud but fun at the same time.

Term 2 Week 5

On Monday we learnt that Mr Graham was okay and that he was going home to recover by the weekend. To be honest, he shouldn't have tried to do a double front flip anyway. After assembly we went back to class and started doing some work on apostrophes and how to use them. The thing I learnt is if you don't 100% know how to use them. DON'T! Anyway how you use them is you need to see what that noun belongs to and if it makes sense.

All the pupils' seats were taken

You would put it after pupils because pupil seats does not make sense.

Then we played volleyball in the ALC after lunchtime. That's where we learnt how to include others.
On Tuesday we made Nachos in food and I learnt that when the dial is on the highest temperature, it does not mean (a low simmer). We also learnt how to multiply and divide algorithms with decimals.
If you want to multiply you don't have to line your decimals up. You can just leave them as they are. As a normal algorithm. Then you do normal multiplication. When you get to the end, you count how many numbers are on the left of the decimal and count how many places by starting on the right and you put the decimal place on before the number that you counted.

Say there are three decimal places on the left of the decimal you would do this to the number

562903- The decimal would go before the nine and after the two- 562.903

As for division, how many ever times you multiply your number by to make it a whole number, you have to do to the inside.

Outside- 0.7 (you need to times it by ten so that it's a whole number) 7
Inside- 58.6232 ( since you times the outside by ten you need to do the same on the inside) 586.232

On Wednesday we did ICAS Science and it wasn't that bad. I just got stuck on a couple of questions and that caused a little time delay but I carried on. We also learnt in reading about to replace words with different ones in the text.
On Thursday we perfected our Whakaeke (entry) in Kapa haka.
We also had a man named Lex come in and talk about cyber bullying. He talked about Digital Footprint and bullying and all this other stuff. He talked about how thirty-seconds to think about whether you should delete something is enough time for someone to save it and repost it. He also said that there is always a good side of things and a bad side. He said we should be safe on social media and any photos or texts we post or send.
We also got put into teams for our School Winter Games and I got put into Basketball.
On Friday we had French and we learnt the seasons in French.

Summer- ete ( e-ti)
Winter- hiver ( ee-ve-ier)
Spring- printemps (pra-tom)
Autumn- l'automne ( lu-turn)

Then we put them in to categories like snowing would go in winter.

  • Il fait beau- fine                Il fait pleut- rain            Il neige- snowing
  • Il ya du soleil- sunny        Il ya du vent- windy      Il ya du brouillard-foggy
  • Il fait chaud- hot               Il fait fraud-cold            Il fait mauvais- bad weather
  •                                                                                 Il fait fraud-cold

Then we had Tech Arts where I made wedges and it was really fun. I learnt that you only need a little bit of spices and not a lot like another person did.
When we had Inter-house Winter champs, I thought we were going to lose but we did the exact opposite and the great thing is that all the other sports got at least one win so it was really fun.

We actually could take it out.

Term 2 Week 4

On Monday, we had a very short assembly this week which was really cool. We learnt that their are heaps more types of adjectives. Their are
Number adjectives-Their are four ducks near the lake.
In this case, four is the adjective because ducks is the noun.
Indefinite adjectives- The chief has heard many things around hear.
Indefinite adjectives do not point out specific things. They are formed from indefinite pronouns. (no, any, many, few, several ).
Demonstrative adjectives-If I hear that parrot again, I will call the RSPCA
Demonstrative adjectives are used to demonstrate or indicate specific things.( This, that, these, those)
The Articles- The wall is very tall with a lovely painting on it.
Articles are words that describe words or could be replaced by words like A or The.
Also on Monday we had ALC time after lunch time. We were put into teams and the people who confidentially know the game had to teach the people who have barely been introduced into it. I found it quite fun and easy to be honest.
On Tuesday we never had Tech Arts so we had to finish off work. On Wednesday we learnt about different types of characters.
Flat- A flat character is a character with very few character traits.
Round- A round character however is a character with heaps of character traits
Dynamic- A dynamic character is a character that grows throughout the story.
Static- A static character is a character that doesn't change or grow throughout the story.
Antagonist- The antagonist is usually the villain in the story or should I say the person against the Protagonist.
Protagonist- The protagonist is the angel and is against the antagonist.

EPRO 8
The EPRO 8 was really fun. You have to complete a whole series of challenges in order to get points. Some of the challenges are quite challenging but you don't more points than the easier ones. We struggled on the electricity part but at least we knew what we had to work on and leave the most time on.
On Thursday we learnt a new song in band with the Senior band and Junior band. It was so much fun to work with both bands. At Kapa haka we were taught a new song for our bracket. At Robotics we had program and create a track that went onto a second level with five corners and one had to a 45 degree angle which was hard master.
On Friday we did a little task on adjectives and learnt how to do division algorithms involving decimals.
So what ever you do to make the decimal a digit or a number you have to the other side and move it to the right how many places. At Food we made banana cake or butterfly cakes. My one wouldn't for some reason cook but you know, I didn't care because I got to cook a little longer than normal. Then we had AIMS Netball practise which was fun. We learnt who our coach is. Luckily she has coached me before so I can't wait.

Term 2 Week 3

This week was actually quite cool. We had pupils from Matamata School and Cambridge Intermediate come and perform with our schools symphonic band. On Monday we had a magician come and show us a few tricks. That was really cool. We also had our volleyball session where we learnt how to place yourself and different skills as well. We learnt how to set the ball [volley] and a few exercises on how to improve our skills. Th video said that all your power comes from your legs and you push the ball with your fingertips. We also learnt how to bump the back to one another. You put one hand on top of the other and you want the ball to hit your fore arms and not your wrist. They said that you have more control over the ball. On Tuesday we had Tech Arts and we did food. It was so much fun. We planned out our lesson and started cooking Crispy cheesy corn rolls and crispy dip sticks. Surprising, they were very nice. On Wednesday I learnt how to find the unknown on both sides but still didn't get it. Instead I just helped my friend [Caitlyn] another way on how back track. The way I do it is say you got
Image result for Algebra
3D+8=23

You would do inverse operations. So basically the opposite.
23-8=15

This how you would write
   3D = 15       (-8)
You would put take away 8 in brackets on one side.
Then you would do what it equals
Then you put whats left.

     D=5      (divide by 3)

That's what I do and taught Caitlyn
After Morning tea we went to the ALC to see what we needed to do for band. Junior band was in the hall and senior band was in the ALC. The drum line was in the music room and the choir was in the dance and drama studio. In the afternoon I decided to move myself into Senior Band because the music was very easy in Junior band. I picked up on the music very easily.

Image result for alto saxWe had an afternoon practice and we had dinner in the hall. Then we practiced with choir for the combined pieces. On Thursday the Junior went back down into the hall. We practiced the whole day. We did a school performance to the school in the afternoon block. Around 7:00pm we a show for all parents to see. It was really fun. My favourite thing was the drum line. On Friday we had Tech Arts. We made Foccacia bread and I was so amazing I got a signature. In the afternoon we did a skills session with our AIMS Netball selector. He taught us about stable positions and all of the different types of passes. It was really fun and I made it.
