Camp!!!!!

NARROWS CAMP!!!!!

Going on camp was so much fun!!!!

Narrows camp is where we went just before the holidays. When we got there we went over rules and then did some orientating which was so much fun. Then we went into our activities. Air rifles, go karts, archery, trolleys, water slide and BMX.
My favourite things that we did on camp were paintball, the bonfire, the fire challenge and probably go karts. The thing that I loved about paintball is that everyone had a really bad aim, so it was more likely for no one to get shot. For last man standing no one won because not much people went for each other. They more likely just wanted to stay safe and in. Our second game that we played was capture the flag where we split into our P.E teams and played the game. My team won two games and the others won one.
The reason why I liked the bonfire is because we just sat around the bonfire and sang songs and eat marshmallows. We could barely think of any songs so we sang little kids songs because we couldn't think of anything that we all knew.
Pushing your foot on that accelerator in Go karts was so much fun. The track was bumpy which made it harder for people to beat others time. Hailey and I got 15 seconds, just when Raiha got 13 seconds. Even though Quin got 12 seconds which I don't know how he did but i'm just gonna go with it.
The fire challenge was not what I expected. First you had to pick up water out of the swamp without moving the cup past the line. then you needed to build a masterpiece adult height and make sure that it stayed on that thing for at least five seconds. To get the cup on the piece you needed to use any part of your body apart from your hands to get it to your piece. The next task was you had to get a metal wire and move it along the piece of rope but the worst about it is that it was electric and you had to keep hold of it all the time other wise you had to restart. There were three stations we you could stop. The worst thing that I hated was the fact that we had to walk in the swamp that was so deep and disgusting and made you off balance and shock yourself so that you had to let go. The 4th challenge was that you had to get a box matches that were five meters away from the rope. You could use anything around you but once you try and get the matches you had to stay on the other side of the rope. Once you have your matches you had to make your fire. We came from the very last to the first team to finish the challenge but we didn't keep our fire going to cook afternoon tea so we just went on another one. The that I learnt about that is that you need to be tough and that you never give up even if you are coming last. I also learnt that when you make a fire always put the paper on the bottom not the top.
I really enjoyed camp with Rm 7 and Rm 3.  Now it comes to Wellington which will be so much fun. Better start saving.

On Monday I got announced on the stage for competing in the Waikato Champs which I explained in my last post competition. Today was also my student LED conference and wasn't as bad as what I thought. I said that I needed a lot of work on my reading and little refreshers on everything else. We did this task and it was based on reading where we had to find clues to try and figure out the setting(If it was the theater or movies you get the clue may ticket and popcorn). I enjoyed that task but the last one tripped me up as in I got it wrong. I wrote subway station and not underground but I learnt that you need to write the proper word.On Tuesday the WIMS touch teams went to compete for the school. Today we learnt a did a new song for Jump Jam which is called Freaks and we may teach Team A early next term.Today was busy because we had a explanation due today about the Water Cycle. We also competed against Room 13 in Softball and lost just by one point (5-6 to them) and we were all disappointed and even they were because it was their worst game. Honestly we all lost because of me cause I past the ball to home when I should of taken the easy out which was base one but I've learnt my mistake. I was sad that we didn't have any French today but I'm pretty sure we will catch up on the units. On Thursday we learnt the first bit of the poi which was cool but where still need to learn other main songs to put this all together. While we do all of that we still need to focus on hosting Kapahaka this year.

WEEK 9

On Wednesday we did do French today with Room 14 & 15 which was cool. I am really getting the hang of speaking in French. Bonjour Je suis Te Wehi. E toi. That's how you say Hello my name is Te Wehi. What's yours. Now we are learning new sayings or how to count in French. On Thursday I had to fill in important in my Mihi for extension Maori such as who your brothers and sisters are or grandparents. We got to stay for the whole entire session up till morning tea which was cool because it gives us more time to learn and get prepared to say a our Mihi. Also we had our Inter-house summer games and it wasn't that bad but I would have liked to play softball or dodge ball instead of Touch but we won two games and lost two. Honestly Puniu have a good chance of winning the Inter-House competition. On Friday we organised our transport for camp in Week 11 and who was in which dorms. After that we did this task for our writing how you have to rid of the "to be verb" or on this worksheet it had all these examples about how to explain the setting. That was really challenging. Anyway in the afternoon we had Maori and I had to say my Mihi and it was a big step for me. That is all that happened in my two weeks at TAI. I will keep you guys updated. Auvoir
