Term 2 Week 1

Back at school!!!
I know a lot of people like school, but without it, I barely have anything to do.
Anyway, on Monday we installed this SAS writing reviser to help with this piece of writing that is due on Wednesday. It really helped with finding simple sentences which I have heaps of and weak and hidden verbs that I also had heaps of but it doesn't matter. Then we did this Otago maths test where there are five problem-solving questions that you need to answer. Then we did this revision on geometry such as different triangles or angles of a triangle or hard as alternate, co-interior and some other one that I forgot. I can't believe that we actually got to the day that we had presented our brain inquiry project. We had a lot of great feedback so that was good. After that, we talked a lot about Science fair such as the order in what you have to do and the research and question but first we had to go home, and make a log book.
Tuesday was a little bit different as to what you  would do normally. This guy named Mike King came in to talk to us about his problem. He had these real bad problems to do with anxiety and drugs and also alcohol. When he had these problems he delt with them by getting a councilor. When he was young he was bullied a lot and would sit outside the staff room with his good friend Nigel. One day when Nigel wanted to tell a funny joke, it was a big let down. He said"Hey Michael whats this and he said a seagull coming back from the library", Mike said"  Nigel, whats this". Nigel said it was a seagull coming back from library but Mike said it was a gay tea pot. When he noticed that he made Nigel laugh, he realized that he wanted to make people laugh by being a stand up comedian so that is what he came to talk to us about. That taught me to try and find something that you love very much and enjoy doing it. When he made people laugh, the popular kids accepted him in their group but what Mike noticed is that they get really bored of things,so they made him pick kids including Nigel and he did it to him. He became a an alcoholic and drug person because it took his mind off things and washed away the pain but starting things that you know are bad just makes this big hole that keeps getting deeper until something terrible happens. He got over those problems by getting a councilor and her name was Stella. She said a very cool quote. She said"What happens when you leave a pot full of boiling water with a lid on it"And Mike said "The pot explodes when it's had enough. Stella described that as Mike's head. Mike's head will explode but she said that it won't effect you. It will hurt others more than you. After that we had a few questions and Mike told us a story. Up in some area in Auckland I think, there was a school that suffered buy losing five students that committed suicide. When Mike went to discuss with the children in that school before these reporters and camera crew went to the school and told them their problem and the solution to it and left.
What the kids didn't like is the fact that parents or adults don't know what their kids are going through but everyone in the school did. They wanted to tell the problem and solution, not the adults.
After that we got this little booklet with Mike King's problems in it and details so we could contact him for any questions.
On Wednesday we tried to finish our writing that we have to publish doing the SAS writing reviser. I really need to focus weak and hidden verbs and my tense. It was hard to remember all the angles that you do for Geometry because there are so many.
There are:
Corresponding
Co-interior
Alternate
Acute
Right
Obtuse
Straight
Reflex
Revolution
complementary
Supplementary
vertically opposite
Those aren't even all of them.
What I love about Jump Jam is it's a fun sport or activity to do and the exercise and fun is cool.
French is so cool to. We are starting to learn how to introduce ourselves in French.
On Thursday I learnt my mihi and a names in Te Reo and two new songs Kapahaka which was cool.
One of them was the Poi and the other one was the Moteatea.
The Poi is a traditional item that women and use in Kapahaka. Men used to do the Poi back in the day. The Moteatea is song done with no instruments or beat. With choir, we practiced a lot of songs to do with Band for Music camp.
On Friday we basically just finished off work. During Tech Arts I am nearly up to the stage of finishing my truck and I am so excited. It is also my brothers birthday today and that's his birthday present. Even though it is seven days late it's still going to be cool.
Anyway I will keep you guys updated each week just because I have to.
Au revoir
